In the 2000’s I was closely involved with Splashpower for several years, as a seed angel and then as VP Innovation. We set about addressing this problem, creating and protecting much of the seminal IP in the area, and raising awareness of the potential of this technology to make consumers’ lives easier. We were one of perhaps only 2 early players who created this nascent market, which has now become significant (Pike Research estimates $5bn annual market by 2020) with all the major OEMs involved today.
We learned a lot about the space – and what the challenges really are.
